śatakatrayam 1.69: tṛṣṇāṃ chindhi bhaja kṣamāṃ (quell desire, cultivate patience)

तृष्णां छिन्धि भज क्षमां जहि मदं पापे रति मा कृथा:
सत्यं ब्रूह्यनुयाहि साधुपदवीं सेवस्व विद्वज्जनम् ।
मान्यान्मानय विद्विषो ऽप्यनुनय प्रख्यापय प्रश्रयं
कीर्तिं पालय दु:खिते कुरु दयामेतत्सतां चेष्टितम् ।।६९।।
नीतिशतके

quell desire,
cultivate patience,
give up alcohol,
do not yield to temptation,
speak the truth,
follow in the steps of the wise,
serve the intelligent,
honor the honorable,
cherish even your enemies,
be modest,
but guard your fame,
and be kind to the poor.
this etiquette is expected
from gentle folk. ||69||
