śatakatrayam 1.47: maunānmūkaḥ (if taciturn, one is considered dumb)
by Jahnabi Barooah
if taciturn, one is considered dumb.
if articulate, either talkative or garrulous.
if one is near, one is viewed as impudent.
if far away, then one is seen as shy.
if softhearted, one is judged as cowardly,
otherwise, one is believed to be irate.
what is the prudent way to serve superiors?
it is so mysterious that
even spiritual adepts cannot fathom it.||47||
