śatakatrayam 1.40: yaddhātrā nijabhālapaṭṭalikhitaṃ (whatever riches, great or little)

यद्धात्रा निजभालपट्टलिखितं स्तोकं महद्वा धनं
तत्प्राप्नोति मरुस्थलेऽपि नितरां मेरौ च नातोऽधिकम् ।
तद्धीरो भव वित्तवत्सु कृपणां वृत्तिं वृथा मा कृथा:
कूपे पश्य पयोनिधावपि घटो गृह्णाति तुल्यं जलम् ।।४०।।
नीतिशतके

whatever riches, great or little,
the creator has ordained–*
you will obtain precisely that,
whether you live in a desert
or the land of gold.
so, please be patient,
and don’t envy the wealthy in vain!
you see, friend,
a pot draws equal amount of water
from both a well and an ocean. ||40||
