śatakatrayam 1.23: laṅgūlacālanam (lying on the ground)

लाङ्गूलचालनमधश्चरणावघातं
भूमौ निपत्य वदनोदरदर्शनं च ।
श्वा पिण्डदस्य कुरुते गजपुंगवस्तु
धीरं विलोकयति चाटुशतैश्च भुङ्क्ते ।।२३।।
नीतिशतके

lying on the ground,
with tail wagging, legs bent down,
mouth and belly in full view,
a dog accepts a treat–
from its master.
the best of elephants,
on the other hand,
stares for a long while,
and will eat only when
coaxed with a
hundred loving words. ||23||
