नीतिशतके

a dog relishes a cow’s bone,
even if it is fleshless, grimy,
contains the tiniest bit of sinew,
and will not satiate its hunger.
a lion, on the other hand,
abandons a jackal waiting nearby,
to kill an elephant.
everyone, after all–
even those in dire straits,
expects a result
in accordance with
their character. ||22||
