śatakatrayam 1.15: keyūrāṇi na bhūṣayanti puruṣam (bracelets don’t ornament a person)

केयूराणि न भूषयन्ति पुरुषं हारा न चन्द्रोज्वला
न स्नानं न विलेपनं न कुसुमं नालंकृता मूर्धजा: ।
वाण्येका समलंकरोति पुरुषं या संस्कृता धार्यते
क्षीयन्तेऽखिलभूषणानि सततं वाग्भूषणं भूषणम् ।।१५।।

bracelets don’t ornament a person,
neither do diamonds as bright as the moon,
nor does a luxurious bath,
nor smearing with fragrant oil,
nor sweet-smelling flowers,
nor styled hair.
one cultivated language alone (i.e. sanskrit)
embellishes a person,
all the other ornaments–
they will decay with time.
but the ornament that is language
will forever remain an ornament. ||15||
